Ultraviolet (UV) Radiation Facts
PROTECT YOUR FAMILY FROM THE SUNS HARMFUL UV RAYSIt is a well known documented fact that Australians have the highest level of skin cancer in the world. While humans can choose various courses of protection, for instance-avoiding noon-time sun; plants and animals are not so fortunate. UV radiation levels are highest during the middle of the day. In total, almost half the daytime total UV radiation is received during the few hours around midday (noon). Clouds as well as ozone, have a tremendous effect on UV radiation levels. However cloudy skies generally do not offer significant protection from harmful UV rays. Dangerous Ultra Violet rays are invisible, and can attack the skin of young children and pets (including fish) in just 10 minutes in high exposure times. UV rays can easily create a deadly sun cancer spot. Experts agree that the most common cause of skin cancer is Ultra Violet Radiation. Although the Australian sun burns with intense heat, it is the in visible UV rays that can burn a person and cause damage to unprotected fair skin within a short time of 15 minutes. UPF is the term for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and it represents a specific scale or rating that the UV protection provides by various materials. Sunscreens have always carried the SPF identification code, and the term UPF was selected to distinguish it from the SPF screening code. The higher the UPF rating, the more effective and longer the protection against UVR will be. JKE Shade Pty Ltd proudly supply and recommend a commercial grade of shade cloth material capable of blocking out and screening up to 99% of UV Radiation including 97% shade rating with a limited 10 year guarantee against any deterioration in UV. The higher the UPF rating of any quality shade cloth will result in longer protection against UV Radiation. Any quality shade cloth with a UPF rating of 15 will allow just one fifteenth of the UV Radiation to penetrate through it; as a UPF rating of 20 for example will only allow just onetwentieth of the UV Radiation to penetrate through the cloth weave. DO NOT UNDER-ESTIMATE THE INVISIBLE AND DEADLY RAYS OF ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION! PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILIES SKIN WHILE YOU CAN
